CIB
CIB in the Community
As part of CIB's dedication to the community in which it operates, the bank set up the Charity Fund in 2003 to contribute towards charitable organizations and support them in their cause.
CIB has managed to collect more than LE70 million through the fund so far, to the benefit of 25 charitable organizations which operate in important areas such as health, social duty and education.
With regards to the health sector, the fund contributes towards providing better treatment and care facilities. These are granted to institutions that are dedicated to caring for and helping patients in need.
The fund also promotes and supports orphanages that provide orphaned and special needs children with the necessary care.
CIB's Charity Fund also provides financial support for students from low-income families who cannot afford to pay for their children's education and has sponsored a number of students until graduation from Faculties of Commerce at major Egyptian universities.
Humanitarian Contribution Toward Flood Relief
In the aftermath of the violent floods which afflicted several Upper Egyptian Governorates during October 1994, CIB immediately responded to this national crisis by donating one and a half million pounds to the emergency fund established to provide relief to the victims and aid towards rebuilding their homes and villages.
Earthquake
On October 12, 1992, Egypt was hit with a major earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale. The epicenter of the earthquake was in Fayoum province lying approximately 100 kilometers west of Cairo. The impact was devastating in terms of both human and material losses as Egypt has not historically been an earthquake prone country. The earthquake resulted in large-scale destruction of properties mostly in the Greater Cairo area, particularly affecting older structures in the city's traditional quarters.
As a part of its ongoing commitment to charitable and community service activities, CIB immediately contributed to the cash relief funds raised by the Government of Egypt to support victims of the earthquake. The Bank also financed the reconstruction of two elementary schools in the Greater Cairo area to enable young children to rapidly resume their studies with minimum disruption in a safer environment.
